About Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation Lunar New Year Gala
The Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation first celebrated the Chinese New Year Gala in 2008 to showcase the organization’s effort to make a difference for people in our community. Over the past decade, proceeds from this event have benefited Seattle Children’s, Center for Children & Youth Justice (CCYJ), Bruce Lee Action Museum, Washington Initiative for Supported Employment, Seattle Chinese Garden, Seattle Symphony, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), Bellevue LifeSpring, and UW Medicine. This year, this event raised over $300,000, with more than 600 attendees. The Chinese New Year Gala has raised well over $3.0 million for these deserving local charities and the Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation is proud to continue our service to the community. Proceeds from the Lunar New Year Gala benefit our selected charity. Through the volunteer effort of the Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation members and designated charity organizations, the event has grown to be one of the most successful galas in Seattle’s Asian community.
